ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NURSE
Welcome to
the Burr District Elementary School health office webpage.
My name is
Linda Kauffman and I am the full time school nurse here. I work as the parents’ partner to
protect and promote the health and safety of all children. I assess and provide care to any
student who is injured or becomes ill during school hours. Emergency first aid and support
measures are provided until a parent or guardian can be contacted if
needed. It is very important for
parents/guardians to notify me if there are any changes in the student’s
emergency contact information during the school year.
Throughout
the school year I conduct various health screenings and make appropriate
referrals as needed. Immunization
and health records are compiled and maintained throughout a student’s
educational career. It is critical
that parents/guardians notify me if there are any changes in the
student’s medical condition so that I have the most complete record.
Health
counseling is also provided to students, parents and staff. I teach students, families and staff
about health problems, healthcare and self care.
In closing,
I believe that every child has the right to grow up healthy. The school nurse is the bridge between
education and healthcare.
