*Author’s Celebration in
June
Toward the end of the
school year we will be having our “Author’s Celebration.” Each child works on
writing different books throughout the school year. They will each choose one
of their books to be published and they will then share that book with parents
at our celebration. It’s a proud moment for both the children and their
parents!
Children are involved in
many types of reading throughout the day. They each have book boxes that
contain books at their independent level. They are also divided into small
flexible groups where they read with the teacher on their instructional level.
Time is also provided for each child to read books from the class library that
are simply for their enjoyment. Our day also includes shared reading through
chart poems and big books as well as partner reading with a friend.
