Write a five-paragraph research essay that addresses the question: “Should Shakespeare Be Taught in School?”  Here is a schedule of events that breaks the assignment into manageable chunks:

    Now that you understand all of the important characters and literary elements of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, it’s time to demonstrate your knowledge.  Specifically, you will write an original test – including an answer sheet – that a teacher could give in class to tests students’ comprehensive knowledge of Romeo & Juliet.  You will use a format provided in class to create questions that cover these items:

 

  The Plot (what happens)

  The Characters

  The Literary Elements (themes, symbols, verbal techniques, etc.)

• “The Four Days That Made TV News” (JFK Assassination)

• How to Watch TV News (book by Postman and Powers)

• Frontline: News War (documentary)
