High School Students will need to bring the following items with them on November 27: Registration Form, Release Form, and Judges Form. Students also need to bring a headshot or picture of themselves to their audition. |
Step One: The Auditions
November 27, 3:00 pm-6:00 pm
Haddam-Killingworth High School TV Studio (Directions)
Each high school should pull together as many singing students as it can who exemplify fun, talent, and a desire to help others. Students will be asked to complete an audition packet which includes a parental release, short bio and head shot. Prepare and sing a 30 to 40 second excerpt from a song, a capella. Because this is such a short period of time, students will need to “give it all they got!”. The auditions will be judged by a reputable panel not affiliated with any school and will be videotaped. The footage may be used during the Holiday Show so students will need to have a release form signed (if they are under 18, it will need a parent signature). No student will audition without the form.
Step Two: The Holiday Show
December 21, 8:00 am-12:00 pm
The judges will select 10 singers from the auditions to be featured in our annual Holiday Show Telethon. Prior to the show, each contestant will be videotaped in order to make a short video biography which will be broadcast throughout the telethon. Contestants must prepare two solos within themes TBA which will be performed live. More information about this will be available to the finalists. Contestants will be judged by the viewers of the telethon. In order to vote, viewers must make a dollar pledge in the name of their favorite contestant. Each pledge represents one vote for your favorite contestant. This all takes place “in real time” so schools and communities will be watching live performances and be able to vote. In addition, the program will be rebroadcast until January 2 when the voting will close.
Step Three: The Benefit Concert
January 18, 2008 at 3:00 to rehears for the concert
that starts at 7:00 pm
The final culmination will be an evening concert featuring the 10 finalists in which they will reprise their performances and sing some group numbers. The winner of the telethon will be announced at the end of the evening. Note: This is a MANDATORY concert for winning participants.
