This is a book about a 12 year old boy named Toby who was found on the doorstep of a hotel named “The Grand,” and the employees make him into a janitor. Then, one day there was a big storm and all the chefs’ clothes blew out the window. Then he sees something bobbing up and down under the dry deck and it asks for food. When he comes back to give the food to this mysterious creature, and you’ll never guess what he finds.... a mermaid! He follows the mermaid into a cave deep down in the docks, the darkest place there could ever be! When he enters the cave he hears a faint distant cough and he meets the mermaid’s parents.

This book was funny and you never knew what was going to happen next. It is a quick enjoyable read. Anyone in middle School will enjoy it.
