Let There Be Lights

As many of you are aware, a project to light the track and the athletic field contained within the boundaries of it commenced a few weeks ago.  This project is being partially funded by donations being organized by the Touchdown Club.  Given that the project is short of the necessary funding to complete it, the Club continues to promote a fundraising campaign entitled the "Cougar Path."  The goal of this project is to sell 1,500 bricks which will be used to resurface the pathway leading from the parking area behind the high school to the field that is to be illuminated.  Each brick is being sold for $50.00 (4" x 8") with all proceeds going toward the amount needed to complete the installation of the four light poles and the related costs in doing the installation.  Additional details may be obtained by calling (860) 345-2429 or (860) 345-3746.

H1N1 Flu Clinics Scheduled

The ninth and tenth in a series of H1N1 flu clinics sponsored by Mass Dispensing Area 36 (MDA 36) are scheduled for Wednesday, December 16 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and Wednesday, December 30, Noon - 6:00. Both clinics will be held in the Fox Parish Center, St. Francis Church, 10 Elm Street, Middletown.

The clinics are free and open only to residents of Cromwell, Durham, Haddam, Middlefield, and Middletown. Proof of residency will be required. The vaccine will be given out by appointment.

People who have a severe allergy to eggs or running a fever should not receive the vaccine. The H1N1 vaccine is not effective against seasonal influenza.

More H1N1 flu clinics are expected to be scheduled and are sponsored by MDA 36: the City of Middletown; the towns of Cromwell, Durham, Haddam and Middlefield.

For more information or to schedule an appointment for either clinic, call (860) 344-3474. To pre-register on-line: www.cityofmiddletown.com. Click on "H1N1 (Swine Flu) Tips and free Clinic Information".
