Week of April 5, 2010

Enjoy your spring break.

The last day of the 2009-2010 school year and the date for the graduation for the Class of 2010 is Friday, June 18th.

The Board of Education and Central Administration of the district continue to review the 2010 -2011 Superintendent's Proposed Budget.  Please consider attending any of the following sessions to listen to their discussion.

Monday, April 19, 2010 - Annual Hearing and Special Meeting of the Board of Education
7:00 p.m. Haddam-Killingworth Middle School

Monday, May 3, 2010 - Annual Meeting
7:00 p.m. Haddam-Killingworth High School Auditorium

Tuesday, May 4, 2010 - Referendum in Both Towns

The public is more than welcome to attend any of the budget workshops and any of the Budget Committee meetings.  Certainly our Budget Committee is eager to communicate effectively with the town officials in both Haddam and Killingworth.  As a Budget Committee responsible for articulating the educational needs of the school district in a fiscally responsible manner, we have the difficult task of striking a balance between our educational needs and our fiscal responsibilities.  Our committee will be monitoring activity and actions at the legislative level most carefully, and wherever possible will be providing input in order to protect both the educational and financial interests of the district and our towns.

The district is pleased to announce that the inductees to the 2010 class of the Haddam-Killingworth Hall of Fame are: Frank Sparks, Robert Baranoff and Michael Kish. These inductees will be honored at a dinner scheduled fro June 5, 2010. Details regarding purchasing tickets to this dinner will be made available very soon.

Congratulations are extended to Rachel Roberts, Grade 10studet at HKHS. Rachel's outstanding academic achievement has qualified her for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars.  She has also been selected, due to academic achievements, to represent the state of Connecticut as a National Scholar at the National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) in Washington, D.C. this coming summer 2010.
