Week of October 14, 2008
The Board of Education Subcommittee listings have been
updated and are available on the district website at
www.rsd17.org.
HKTV is in the process of
entertaining ideas and possible individuals/organizations for this
year's HKTV Telethon. If you have a suggestion please email Chuck
Lewis HK Communication teacher @
hktv@rsd17.org so he can share it with his TV
students who ultimately make the final decision. Considering the
hard economic times there are probably many needy families; however,
we are trying to find a cause close to home that supports the motto
"kids helping kids" Thanks for your
help
Let the Lights Shine on
Haddam/Killingworth Football Field
Game on this Friday, October
17, 2008.
This is the first night game in the history of the
district's football program. A group of volunteers have raised
over $120,000.00 to complete this project. They have a local
business that has donated portable lights for this game to increase
the awareness of this project. To date, they have completed
phase one which was running the power to the track, which was 900
feet plus, all done by volunteers. Poles are arriving in one
week, and we need to raise another forty thousand to complete this
goal. The football team will be having practice under the
lights on Thursday night, October 16, 2008 and the game starts
Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
The 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school calendars have
been revised to provide one half day per month (for high school
students only) between October 2008 and June 2010 to facilitate high
school personnel completing work related to the upcoming
accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges
(NEASC). The revised calendars are available for viewing on
the district's website at www.rsd17.org.
