-Please check the District Calendar of Events located at www.rsd17.org to be updated on upcoming district activities.

-As inclement weather is upon us, please be sure that you have registered with Honeywell so you may receive automated messages announcing any school delays and/or closures.  You may register with Honeywell via the link provided at www.rsd17.org.

-An area where you may view past segments of Spotlight on Seventeen via streaming video has been established on the district website at www.rsd17.org.

-The first segment of Spotlight on Seventeen was aired on Channel 18 beginning on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. with future broadcasts as announced on the Channel 18 program guide.  The session will also be made available for viewing via streaming video at www.rsd17.org to accommodate individuals who do not have access to Channel 18.  This monthly, student directed and produced series will feature taped discussions about programs and services offered by the Regional School District 17.  The first segment was a conversation with the district’s elementary principals regarding the specific steps they are taking in each of their buildings to improve instruction.  Suggestions for future topics may be forwarded to gsmala@rsd17.org.

-The second segment of Spotlight on Seventeen will be filmed on Friday, December 7, 2007 and will be aired on Channel 18 during the week of December 10th.  The session is an interview with the 2006 Regional School District Teacher of the Year, Chuck Lewis and the 2007 Regional School District Teacher of the Year, Marcy Webster

-An area where you may view past Weekly Messages has been established on the district website at www.rsd17.org.

-If you are aware of any parents who may not be receiving these Weekly Messages, please encourage them to speak to a representative of the school where their child (children) is (are) in attendance.  At that time, the parent e-mail address maintained in the district student management software will be checked for accuracy.  Please be aware that we are experiencing difficulties communicating with certain e-mail providers.  In these cases, the district has no control over this as it is a problem with each carrier and what filtering system they utilize.  At the present time, we are unable to communicate in this format with parents who use AOL, ATT, SBC Global, and Yahoo as e-mail service providers.  This third Weekly Message is being sent via a different electronic route in an attempt to overcome the problem as noted.

-If you wish to have something included in any future Weekly Message, please forward the text to be included to Cindy Fetteroll, Administrative Assistant the Superintendent of Schools, at fetteroll44@rsd17.org.

-If you have any comments or suggestions about the Weekly Message initiative, please do not hesitate to contact Gary S. Mala, Superintendent of Schools, at gsmala@rsd17.org or (860) 345-4534

Thank you for your continued support of your school district and enjoy your week.

Best wishes always.
