-Did
you know that………….
...School Administrators make weekly, “positive calls” to parents of
students and students who are observed doing positive things while in
school.
...There is a weekly message sent to all staff in the district entitled
“Thought for the Week.” In this
message, staff is provided a quote from a
well-
known
person referring to “Dreams.” As you may recall, our theme for this
year is “Committed to Making Dreams Come True.”
…Region
17 is the largest school district in the state by square
mile.
…Region
17 is the only school district in the state with a standing Board of Education
Subcommittee known as the Audit
Subcommittee.
…Approximately
85% of our student population at HKHS are involved in at least one co-curricular
activity.
…Region
17 contracts the services of a Substance Abuse Counselor (through New Hope
Manor) to work with students enrolled at HKHS and
HKMS.
…Region
17 owns and operates it own transportation system comprised of 36
buses.
…Region
17 is one of very few school districts in the state who contracted the services
of an outside professional to conduct a “Waste Stream Audit” of all waste being
generated across the district. We
are in the process of determining the viability of implementing some of the
recommendations offered by the professional firm who completed the
audit.
