HK Cubs Child Care Center

HK Cubs Child Care Center is a community where children, teachers, high school students and parents share in an effort to create an exciting and challenging place for children to learn and grow by collaborating with one another through positive interactions with family, peers and the school community.  The center, located in Central Office, cares for children from 6wks.to 5 years of age. Our hours are 7:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Summer camp runs June through August.

Infants (6wks. – 18mos.) The infant room has a staff ration of 1:4.  The infants are kept on their own schedule and have plenty of time for play and interaction with each other and their caregivers.  Toys and materials are kept clean and washed daily.  Parents provide bottles, diapers, wipes, lunch, snacks & bedding. Infant schedules include play time, walks, naps, snacks, lunch and outdoor play.  Parents are kept informed of their child’s day through interaction with teachers at pick-up and daily information sheets.

Toddler I’s (18 to 24 mos.) & II’s (24 to 36 mos.) The toddler’s room has a staff ratio of 1:4.  They have a set daily schedule that includes lots of play, circle time, walks, reading, colors, shapes, numbers, sharing, snack, outdoor play, lunch and one nap.  Teachers share what your child did during the day through a home note and interaction with parents at pick-up.

Preschoolers (3yrs. – 5 yrs.)  The preschoolers room has a staff ratio of 1:10.  The preschool schedule includes play, walks, circle time, sharing, snack, outdoor play and rest.  Children work on Kindergarten readiness skills, including letter recognition, numbers, shapes, matching, patterns, science activities & comprehension.   Curriculum and Assessments are taken from the State of Connecticut Preschool Framework.  Teachers share what children did through home notes and parent interaction at pick-up.
