Haddam Elementary School spans grade K-4 and has more than 260 students.  With a relentless focus on effective instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners, HES offers a formidable academic foundation for all its learners.   As we develop the “whole child”, we are mindful of creating nurturing, respectful classrooms where all students can feel safe to take risks.

volunteers each year playing an active role in classrooms.  Our Parent Teacher Organization raises funds to support many enrichment opportunities including multicultural assemblies that allow for interaction with performers from various backgrounds.  Students have learned about many topics including:  world culture and dance, transcending physical disabilities, and respecting differences.

Our staff and students embrace the importance of service to the community:

• Food, supplies, clothing, toys, books, and money are collected for local needy and non-profit service organizations.  
• Students make cards for senior citizens and nursing homes
• We host a Veteran’s Day Assembly and Reception for community veterans
• Thanks to the PTO collecting “Boxtops for Education”, we are able to share our love of reading by purchasing books for school communities in honor of our “HES Loves to Read” month-long program.

Our idyllic setting abutting a Nature Preserve with 150 acres including a pond, stream, and Connecticut River overlook, provides many opportunities for creative writing, physical education and hands-on science lessons.   Haddam Elementary is a wonderful place to learn and grow.  We look forward to “working together for excellence”!
