On
any given day at Haddam Elementary, we have
approximately 20% of our students picked up by
parents, guardians or designees.
While some of you pick up your students
regularly, others may come infrequently.
As a school, we are responsible to ensure that
all students are safely delivered to their parents at
the end of the day. Though we check
identification for all unfamiliar faces, we must also
have every parent/guardian/designee sign the dismissal
log before their child is dismissed from
school.
Due
to the layout of our parking area and limited space to
accommodate large groups of students, we are limited
in our options for dismissing our
students.
Several staff members have
been working together to improve the process for
parent pick-ups and bus dismissals, however, it is
difficult to figure out what might actually work until
we "go live". So, thank you so much
for being patient with us!
We
have learned, so far, that we need to have students
grouped in the alphabetical groupings that match the
sign out sheets for parent pick-ups.
Today, we will try that.
Again, your patience and understanding are
requested. We know that some of you
pick up to ensure that you can get to an appointment
or lesson on time. Our goal is to
have your student to you by 3:25pm.
(If you must pick up before that time, please
send in a note for early dismissal and your child will
be dismissed to the office at the designated
time.) We hope to have a smoother,
safer dismissal process finalized within the
week.
