Representatives from the Paul and Lisa Program,
Inc, presented to the freshmen, junior, and senior classes
last Thursday and Friday while sophomores were involved with
CAPT preparation. The presentation focused on "How to Keep
Yourself Safe on the Internet." Dangers, precautions,
and tips were shared regarding the use of Face Book, My Space,
emailing, blogging, cell phone dating, picture sharing, and
chat rooms. State
and national stories statistics were shared detailing how
"predators" use these communication modalities to endanger
children. I
am currently engaged in conversation with Cheryl Chandler from
Youth and Family, and the Paul and Lisa Program, to plan an
evening presentation for parents. Parents would have the
option of bringing their children with them.

There will be a school-wide assembly program on
Monday, March 30th. The program presenter, David
DiMuzio, is juggler and motivational speaker.
David is
currently 23 years old, and at the age of 16 he won the "World
Championships" in juggling! Since then he's traveled to over
50 countries around the world performing his music, juggling,
and comedy show. This year David feels that he has been called
to start doing a motivational show for high school students
which he's titled "The Koala Effect". The basic message of the
show is that you can find a way to make a living doing
anything you're passionate about and believe in as long as you
are willing to work hard enough at it. David proves this
through his show, and by the fact that he made over
$100,000.00 a year right out of high school JUGGLING! David
believes and demonstrates that if he can make a really great
living playing music and performing as random a skill as
juggling which he's passionate about, then with enough hard
work students can make a living doing anything they have a
passion for.

recently welcomed Monique Komolafe, a specialist with the CT
Fair Housing Center, as a guest speaker. The visit
complimented the students' recent reading of Lorraine
Hansberry's play, A Raisin in the Sun. Students
learned about housing laws in the US, and discussed housing
discrimination in the past and present. Playwright
Hansberry's own father faced discrimination similar to that
chronicled in the play. Ms. Komolafe explained the

closer for students in the International Culture Club. HK

Webcam during their most recent meeting. They could see and
hear each other while they asked varied questions about life
and culture in Italy. Giusi, a nineteen year old student,
answered their questions about music, traditions, driving,
cuisine, movies, geography and life in an Italian village.
