 PARENT BULLETIN

1.     Report cards are scheduled to come out on November 10th.
 
2.     The social studies department under the guidance of teachers Mr. Traestar and Ms. Saltus, provided all students and staff members an opportunity to cast ballots in a mock election, held on Monday, November 3rd. Three presidential candidates and three candidates for the House 2nd District appeared on the ballot.
 
3.     Infant and Toddler Development Classes: Student will receive their "babies", which are programmed baby simulators late November or early December from their teacher Mrs. Kohm. Students will take their "bundles of joy" home on Friday and return them on Monday. Car seats are being sought to enable students to safely transport their "babies" for the weekend.
 
4.     The British Literature banquet is to take place on Monday, November 3rd at Saint Clements Castle in Portland. The Brit. Lit. students have done an excellent job preparing for this special event. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Joanna Sicilano, our foods service teacher, for preparing and cooking the meats for this special event. Special thanks go out as well to Kathleen Mozak-Pezza (Teaching and Leaning Specialist) and Priscilla Luoma (Associate Principal) for all the assistance and support they provided to this endeavor.
 
5.     Picture retakes for all grades will be held on November 6th. This includes yearbook pictures as well.
 
6.     Halloween contest winners: Justin Simmers and Tony LaRosa took first place in the Halloween Costume contest for their incredible impersonations of our high school security gentlemen; Steve Tanasi and Steve Ferjack.  Second place went to Teddy Kanaras who came dressed as a $.25 kissing Booth.
 
7.     Caps and Gowns: Those seniors who have not been measured for caps and gowns or who have not yet paid the $16.50 for caps and gowns should see Mrs. Luoma for measuring or to remit payment.
 
8.     The Girls Field Hockey team won the Shoreline Championship. Congratulations on a job well done.
 
9.     On Thanksgiving Day, November 27th, the football team will travel to Deep River to play Valley Regional High School in a 10:30 start. Come support the Cougars as the battle to keep control of the Principals Cup for the third consecutive year.
 
10.    In the upcoming months, 80 members of the senior class will be   randomly selected to take the National Assessment of Educational Progress Test (NAEP). The test is administered uniformly across America to assess what students know and can do mathematics, reading, science, writing, civics, economics, geography, and United States History. Assessments in world history and foreign language are anticipated in 2012.
