Welcome to our middle school home page!
Our goal this school year is “Transforming Teaching and Learning”. We hope to encourage our parents to join us in this endeavor as we reach for new heights in our classrooms. One way you can help us and your child is to become familiar with the many resources available on this web page. We hope that you will spend some time navigating around our middle school pages to find out more about our school and its activities:
- Bi-weekly parent bulletins can be viewed by hitting the link on the lower right hand corner.
- Our district calendar will give you information about upcoming events and activities. If you click on the event, activities details will appear. Remember to enter as a guest.
- Teacher web pages provide parents and students information about class projects, scheduled lessons and homework assignments. These can be accessed by going to the pull down menu and selecting staff and teacher directory. Click on the link: on line classrooms.
- Our athletic page can be viewed by selecting it from the pull down page. The CIAC link on that page will take parents to the sports calendar for scheduled games and activities.
- Our assistant principal, Mr. English has posted a blog and newsletter that also have links on the MS home page. If you are looking for dismissal forms, that is where you will find them. This is where you will also get the most up to date information about clubs and after school activities.
- Finally, we have a very active PTO. We invite you to get involved and join us in our many events throughout the year. For more information about our PTO, please visit their page which is also linked in our bottom right hand corner.
One of my passions is to get children and their parents to read more together at home. You can do this by reading out loud at dinner or before bed. Or buy two of the same book and pair read, asking each other questions about what you are reading and predicting what will happen next. Form a book club for parents and children. Visit our book fair this fall with your child to talk about favorite authors or see what is now popular on the adolescent best seller list. Share the newspaper or a magazine article. Buy books for gifts for the holidays, birthdays and just because! We do not want pleasure reading to become a lost art in our culture and as parents, we need to do the modeling at home.
Sincerely,
|
