Parent Bulletin7 HKMS
February 29,
2008
1.
Great
news. The
district has converted our parent emails to a "LIST
SERVE". This
allows us to bypass the scam filters that many networks have
installed, blocking emails to large numbers of
recipients. We
are hopeful that this email will be received by ALL of our
parents on our email list. Usually, parent bulletins will be mailed on Thursdays
(we delayed this week to get our LIST SERVE
organized).
2.
Our Pasta Dinner is scheduled for TONIGHT, February 29 (Sadie
Hawkins Day) in our cafeteria from 6 pm to 8 pm. Tickets are
$8 for adults, $4 for children. Families of 5 or more
can purchase a family ticket for $25. Each 8th
grade homeroom is donating a basket that made be bid on
through a silent auction. The funds raised will
be used to reduce the cost of the Washington, DC trip for
all 8th grade students. The final bills sent
home the first week in March will reflect this saving.
Scholarship funding will be supported by donations from the
Lions Club, PTO, Student Council and Honor Society.

Congratulations to our students who successfully
auditioned for the All Southern Regional Music Festival. The students will be
attending their required rehearsals at Seymour High School
today for their concert performances tomorrow. Bravo!

Many parents have asked how snow days and 2 hour
delays affect our daily schedule. If we have a snow day
- we actually skip that day and add it to the end of the
school year. So
if the day we lost to a cancellation was a B2 day, we return
to a C1 day. With
a two hour delay, we drop the first period of the day and
shorten the other periods by 5 minutes. So if the day was a B2
day and we have a
two hour delay, we start the day with C2.
