KES Parents,Guardians and Community Members,

It seems impossible that we have reached the middle of September but here we are! This week was another great week at KES. Thank you to all the parents who attended the curriculum nights this week. I hope you left feeling informed about your child's instructional program and with a sense that this is going to be a great year at KES. If you could not attend either of these nights please know that we are here to answer any questions and that you are always welcome to set up a time to come meet with us.

In regards to the leadership transition, I am pleased to report that we have found an exceptional interim principal for KES. Judy Seldner has recently retired as an elementary principal at Nathan Hale School in Meriden where she served as building administrator for 7 years. While performing the many responsibilities of a principal, Judy also was author of the district assessment, instructor of the summer writing workshop, coordinator of the extended day program, and director of the district summer school program. Judy has been an assessor for beginning teachers, portfolio scorer and mentor for the BEST (beginning teacher) Program.

Judy will be here on Tuesday of next week to visit and will officially begin on Monday 9/24. In the mean time I will continue to serve as interim principal.

While I am excited to move forward in the transition process I am feeling a bit of a sense of impending loss as well. It has been a real privilege and joy to work closely witht this community and your children over the opening of school. I will certainly be keeping a presence in the school throughout the year to continue to support the school and becasue I truly enjoy your children and the community.
