Hopefully the information provided within this page will give you some insight into pupil services at both the local level but also the state and federal level. We have included some links to other websites that you might find helpful. With the reauthorization of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), the State of Connecticut has developed new IEP pages.  Please go to the following CT DEPS IEP link to see the State form.   Hopefully, this link will continue to give you the most up to date version of the forms.  Here in RSD17, we have moved to a computerized version of the documents.  Using technology has helped streamline the paperwork, thereby freeing up valuable staff time to work directly with students.

We take procedural rights very seriously and aim to ensure that we are staying current with the most up to date rights for parents. To view the current rights, please follow this link (Parent's Guide )

We try and provide resources for our families. A valuable resource in the State of Connecticut is the Special Education Resource Center (SERC). SERC is located in Middletown and has a library full of resources available to the public. Please contact them directly for their hours.

Within the State of Connecticut there is much emphasis on maintaining students in the Least Restrictive Environment. Frequently referred to as the "PJ settlement", you can learn more about this initiative at the following link ( PJ/LRE link). We are pleased to report that RSD17 was recently commended for all the fine work we do with inclusion.
